Mrs. Hubbard of Oak Valley is mourned- resident of neighborhood of Deer Creek for past 57 years.
Deer Creek, Dec 31- Mrs Frank Hubbard, a resident of this community for 57 years, died at midnight Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs, Ora Cook, who resides just across the road from the Lyman store in Oak Valley. Mrs Hubbard suffered a stroke of apoplexy Christmas day and grew rapidly worse. Mrs Hubbard was born in Mercer county, Ohio and was 87 years of age last April. When a small child her parents moved to Clear Lake, Iowa, they being among the early settlers there. Fifty-seven years ago they came to Otter Tail county and settled in the Compton community. They purchased a farm two miles south of Lyman and this is still known as the Hubbard farm and is occupied by Mrs Hubbard's granddaughter and husband, Mrs Hubbard's marriage to Mr Hubbard took place 65 years ago. He preceeded his wife in death five years ago, and since that time Mrs Hubbard has resided with her daughter, Mrs Cook. She was the mother of eight children, two of whom survive. They are Mrs Cook, and Elmer Hubbard of Fergus Falls. There are fifteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grand-children. Mrs Hubbard's many friends increased with the years she lived among them. She was of a cheerful disposition and never happier than when she had a group of neighbors and friends about her. She was a keen observer and a great reader, keeping in close touch with world events. During the last year or so, failing eyesight made it difficult for her to read as she had in the past. Buried at Oak Valley Cemetery- Oak Valley twp.- sec 26.
Certificate of death #11546 indicates that Hannah died at 12:10 am on Dec 31, 1935.
