William Clyde Phillips
(09 August 1934 - 23 July 2010)

William "Clyde" Phillips, Sr., 75 of Carthage passed away at 1:56 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at his home.

Clyde was born on August 9, 1934 in Rogersville, MO.

He was the son of William Lincoln Phillips and Nettie "Hardy" Phillips.

Clyde was a long time resident of Carthage.

He worked for J.J. Newberry in Springfield, Carthage True Value for 11 years and was the Circulation Manager for the Carthage Press where he also wrote a column, "Cooking with Clyde." He also worked at Wal-Mart for 8 years as a door greeter.

Clyde was a member of the Carthage Church of Christ where he served as an elder, was active in Sunday school and was a song leader.

Clyde married Darlene Schroeder on September 5, 1954 in Springfield, MO. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, William Clyde Phillips, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Springfield, Mark Phillips and wife Bonnie of Loveland, Ohio and Jason Phillips and wife Sandy of Ayres, Massachusetts, one son-in-law, Scott Brauburger of Carthage, one brother, Charles D. Phillips of Clever, MO and one sister Virginia Sloan of Elma, WA, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Clyde is preceded in death by his daughter Debbie Brauburger on October 3, 2003 and one sister, Charlene Wheeler.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Church of Christ in Carthage.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 26, 2010 at the Ulmer Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the Fairview Children's Home or Missouri Bible Institute in care of the Ulmer Funeral Home.
