Violeta Davis, 85, of West, Texas, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2010, in Waco. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in West. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, near Valley Mills. The family will receive visitors 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Violeta was born in Bosque County near Clifton, Texas, to the late John and Mary Helon (Johnson) Smith. On June 7, 1941, she was united in marriage to Loyd W. Davis in Waco. She worked as a beautician for Reeder's Beauty Shop in Waco for over ten years. She especially loved spending time with her family and attending her great grandchildren's school, church and sporting events. Violeta also enjoyed the company of her chihuahua, "Paco". She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of West and Highland Baptist Church in Waco. She will be remembered as a woman of faith and a love for her family. Violeta was also a member of the V.F.W. Post Ladies Auxiliary in Waco. Violeta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother "Da-doo", great-grandmother, sister and aunt.

She was preceded in death by her husband on September 29, 2002; a grandson, Joey Garnett Davis; brothers, Baker Smith and Lonnie Smith; and sisters, Lois Johnson Paul and Muriel Smith.

Survivors include sons, Garnett Davis and wife Lenore and Dennis Davis, all of West; grandchildren, Lee Davis and wife, Lisa, of San Antonio, Denise Fitzhugh and husband, Mike, of Waco, Nicole Tekell and husband, Cory, of Robinson, and Ryan Harvey, of Austin; great-grandchildren, Taelor and Drake Davis, Michael and Meaghan Fitzhugh, Laura Blakeslee, and Londyn Hunke; sister, Evelyn Long, of Sparks, NV; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
