Obituary excerpts:

Death The Destroyer Of Happiness, Enters Batchtown Home and Takes Both Husband and Wife

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zigrang, two prominent citizens of Batchtown, died last Thursday within a few hours of each other, a most unusual coincidence, especially in view of the fact that their birthdates were only one day apart. Both were 68 years of age, Mrs. Zigrang having been born Nov. 11, 1888 and Mr. Zigrang Nov. 12, 1888.

Both had been in poor health for several months, but their sudden deaths were not expected and were a great shock to their families and friends.

Mr. Zigrang suffered a heart attack Thursday morning. A physician was called, but he was dead before the doctor arrived. Mrs. Zigrang suffered a stroke right after that and was taken to Alton Memorial Hospital where she died that afternoon.
