Bertha Irene was the daughter of William Warren and Minnie Morrison Batchelder.
"Death again visited our little village, carrying off the sweet little babes of A. J. Smith and William Batchelder. They were seized with that fatal complaint which has carried off so many of the little ones over the country this season and expired Tuesday night last. Burials took place the following day, and many friends of each family were present to witness them and offer sympathy and condolence to the bereaved."
