Mark Alvin Edgar was the sixth of seven children born to Will Edgar and Maude Allen. He was born in Spur, Dickens County, Texas. Edgar enlisted in the United States Army on April 11, 1941. While serving in the 603rd Tank Company, 1st Cavalry in New Guinea, he contracted tuberculosis. Sgt Edgar was honorably discharged June 11, 1945, he died of the disease in New Mexico on November 29, 1945. He was the recipient of the American Defense Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon.
