DAVENPORT — Shalyn Jeanne Jackson, 27, of Davenport, beloved daughter of Sherry Jackson and Roger Klabunde, chose to be at peace with her Lord at 9:52 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2010, and passed away at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street, Davenport. Services in celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly and Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude Children's Hospital or any other child-related charity of your choice.
Shalyn was born in 1982 in Iowa City. She was a life-long resident of the Quad Cities, graduating from Davenport West High School in 2001. She then went on to further her education at Hamilton Tech, graduating with an Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Drafting in 2004.
Shalyn enjoyed so many things in life, especially spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time in Northern Michigan with her family, especially Memy, Megan, Laura and Matty, her most precious little family members. Shalyn's passions in life were creating beautiful jewelry, crafting, camping, fishing and swimming. Together with her mother, they owned and operated Dia-Rose Jewelry and Gifts, Davenport. She, along with Josh and Memy, were members of Vineyard Church, Davenport, where they found comfort and growth in their faith. Shalyn had the most amazing gift of bringing sunshine and joy to everyone who loved her. She will be deeply and sadly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her mother, Sherry J. Jackson, of Davenport; father, Roger Klabunde, of Frankfort, Michigan; her boyfriend, Josh Howat and his son, Memphis, who she fondly called Memy (7), of Davenport; brother and sister-in-law, Clint and Jenny Klabunde, of Traverse City, Michigan; nieces, Megan (6), and Laura (5); nephew, Matty (3); maternal grandparents, Hal and Jeanne Jackson (Grandy and Gramps), of Davenport; paternal grandparents, Vernon and Anita Klabunde (Grandma and Grandpa K), of Davenport; aunt and uncle, Steve and Tammy Jackson, and their children, Erin, Lisa and Kristy of Las Vegas, Orlando, Florida, and Worthington, Minnesota; an extensive loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins and hundreds of friends; and her furry friends, Zeus and Boog.
Because of her deep love for people and strong desire to help others, Shalyn chose to donate her organs to the Iowa Donor Network following her death. Her generous donation will help between 70 and 80 people.
