William H. Welch, 92, of Morristown, passed away at his home Wednesday, August 31, 2022. A long-time educator, he was a math teacher at the Morristown Junior High School and was later a principal at Roberts Elementary School. Bill was the first principal at Meadowview Middle School where he retired from education in 1991. In retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also a long-time member of First Baptist Church and the Wallen-Purkey Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Chitwood Welch; and parents, John and Mary Welch.
He is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Bill) Charles of Knoxville, TN and Cecilia Welch of Atlanta, GA; son, Keith (Anna) Welch of Port Townsend, WA; grandsons, Seth (Joy) Charles of Knoxville, TN. Andrew (Avery) Charles of Encinitas, CA and Marcus (Megan) Harris of Portland, OR; great-granddaughters, Temple and Josephine Harris, Chelsea Charles, and Abrey Thomas; great-grandsons, Dawson Charles and Braden Thomas; brother, Travis (Sherry) Welch of Lafollette, TN.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at First Baptist Church from 10:30am – 11:30am. The funeral service will be 11:30 with Dr. Dean Haun officiating.
