Laura was the daughter of Ephraim and Eliza (Peer) Gray. She married Francis Marion Gammon on 26 August 1902 in McLeansboro, Illinois. They were the parents of two sons: Dale and Lloyd.

She was a member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church of Wayne County.

At the time of her death, she was survived by both sons, a brother, John Gray, of Elkland, Missouri; a sister, Mrs. Lawrence Jones, of Wayne City, Illinois; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

The funeral was held at Donelson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with the Reverend Denzil Clark officiating. Burial was at Garrison Cemetery.
