Son of Ben and Onie Standridge Womble. Husband of Carmen Michaels Womble. Father to Mitch, Steve, Cindy, Theresa, adopted sons Jim and Fred. He loved his fiddle and was on the radio at WBAC in Tennessee. He served in the Navy on the USS McKee and was in 13 major sea battles in the Pacific. He served 1 year in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged just before Pearl Harbor was bombed. He joined the Navy because he knew the war was going to be a sea battle. His brother, Claude, was killed at the Battle of St. Lo in France. He suffered permanent hearing damage when his ship was being bombed and the radio phone exploded in his ear. My daddy passed away peacefully in the early morning hours from acute renal failure at the VA Hospital in Dallas. He was my dad and he was my hero.

My Dad was originally interred at Laurel Land Cemetery but when DFW opened we had him transferred there to honor him and his service.
