Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Herington-Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Maroa Cemetery.
Mr. Mears was born in Shelby County, son of W.J. and Jane Mears. He was a retired farmer and a member of First Christian Church, DeWitt County Farm Bureau, DeWitt County Friendship Center. He married Cora York in 1913. She died in 1986.
Surviving are his sons, Howard of Kenney; Chet of Clinton; daughter, Mrs. Joe (Mildred) Maddox of Beason; brother, Paul "Pete" of Kenney; sister, Hazel Clark of Chestnut; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
Two sons, one daughter and eight brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
