Son of Susannah Bennett and William Doane(7), William(6), Edward(5), Ebenezer(4), Ebenezer(3), Ephraim(2), Deacon John Doane(1). He was a member of the Ohio State Senate from 1833-1835, a Representative to the 26th and 27th Congresses of the US and a surgeon of the 1st Regt, 3rd Brig, 8th Div, OH State Militia. After the death of his father, John moved to Pike Co, IL with his mother fand family in 1849 where he becane a farmer and a stock raiser.
