Undated Obituary from an unsourced newspaper in Mary A. O'Leary's files:
"Dies in Hospital:
Elwood C. Burton, 69, of 227 Fairmont Avenue died yesterday in Mare Island Naval Hospital. He was a retired Navy chief petty officer. A native of Paris, Tennessee, Mr. Burton had resided in Vallejo 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Carrie H. Burton of Vallejo; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Bradham of Arkansas and Mrs. Mae Borden of Washington, D. C. He was a veteran of World War I and II, and a member of Vallejo Branch 8 Fleet Reserve Association. Funeral services are pending at Twin Chapels."
