Marion Brown was born November 12, 1916 in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Rosco and Gertrude (Kenny) Brown. She married Francis "Bud" Nelson June 15, 1935 in Galesburg, IL. She later married Lawrence "Dutch" Woltkamp in October of 1971 in Rock Island, IL. He died September 8th, 1978. She had worked for over 20 years at the former AMTEK, East Moline, where she was a steel scheduler. She had been a "Red Hat Lady". Marion loved going out to lunch, reading, and shopping at Von Maur. She had a special bird named JoJo.

Survivors include: daughters and son-in-law Glenda and Jim Vyncke, Andover, IL, Laura Nelson of Woodhall, IL, son Howard and Diana Nelson of Coal Valley, IL, 17 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; brother, Chauncey Brown of Galesburg, IL; sister-in-law Connie Brown of Galesburg, IL.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, a son Ray Nelson, a brother Ralph Brown, and grandsons, Darrell Vyncke and James Nelson.

Mom, grandma, great grandma, great great grandma - Marion

She answered to all of them, if she heard you! Those hearing aids were always in the box. Too much trouble..

She had spunk, great sense of humor, and called a spade a shovel! She did not hold back on words this last week. And we all got a piece of her mind. She did not give up without a fight.

Mom loved her bird Jo Jo and every animal you had too, horse, donkey, dog, and cat but Jo Jo was her love for 16 years! She really loved going to church and their potlucks.

Mom would never turn down lunch or a strawberry shake if you would bring it to her. She would say, "if I had my car I would go get it myself"... Don't turn her loose in the grocery store! She only needed a few things but when we checked out she had more than enough for one person! Dessert was on top of the list. And anything CHOCOLATE!

Shopping slowed down when the o2 came to her apartment but she was always ready to go if she was not too tired.

Toothpicks were a must. Every corner of her apartment and her purse and the car! That was her calling card when we took her back home.

We will miss her smile, talking on the phone everyday and especially taking her to lunch. Lunch won't be the same without her sitting there and telling us, "they sure don't know how to waitress anymore". We had to put her on the inside so they did not reach in front of her. That was a no no to Mom.

Brian and Gale will miss checking on her everyday. They spoiled her rotten!!
