A private inurnment services will be held Saturday, July 29, 2000, for Roger E. Hartwig, age 53, of San Diego, CA, formerly of Osage. A gathering of family and friends will be held at 2 pm at the American Legion Post, 504 Main St., Osage. Roger died July 6, 2000 in San Diego, CA. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorials be given to the Roger E. Hartwig memorial fund in care of Mary Hartwig, 511 S. 2nd St., Osage, IA 50461.
Roger was born Dec. 31, 1946 in Osage the son of Edwin and Mary (McGill) Hartwig. He graduated from Osage High School in 1965 and with high distinction from the University of Iowa in 1972 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. In 1984 he received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Iowa. He had lived in San Diego, CA and until retiring was a manager and head waiter for exclusive restaurants in San Diego. Roger was a volunteer for legal aide services and local charities in San Diego.
Preceding him in death were his father, Edwin; and an infant brother, Richard.
Those that survive him include his mother, Mary Hartwig of Osage; four sisters, Sandra Young and her husband, Robert of East Moline, IL, Judith Miller and husband, Jerry of Rudd, Diann Lanum and husband, Tom of Rapids City, IL and M. Kathleen Hartwig and Tom Esber of Forest City, CA; one brother, Russell Hartwig and his wife, Jane of Azle, TX and 12 nieces and nephews and 19 great-nieces and nephews.
