William ‘Bill' Guy, Jr.

World War II veteran

William "Bill" Guy, Jr., 76, died Wednesday, September 1, 1999 in a local
hospital.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy
277 South, with Revs. Wayne Oglesby and Gary Newman officiating. Burial will be
in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Guy was born in Pumphrey. He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II,
serving in the Pacific. He moved to Abilene in 1946 from Wingate. He had been in
sales for many years, working for Sun Supply, Thornton's and Waldrop's. he had
been self-employed for the last 25 years in carpet sales. He married Margaret
Newman in 1946 in Edgewood. He was a charter member of Crescent Heights Baptist
Church, then was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a
memner of the Upper Room Sunday school class.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Bill Guy of Irving; two daughters, Nancy
McCulley of Oklahoma City, Okla. And Cindy Barnhill of Abilene; a brother, Doyle
Guy of San Antonio; three sisters, Dorothy Minor and Reba McCartney, both of
Abilene, and Lela Mae Adcock of Odessa; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1165 Minter Lane, Abilene
79603, or to the donor's favorite charity.
