The town of Lousiville was platted in 1866 because of a flourishing mill having been built there. There was a store, a blacksmith shop, a postoffice, an Odd Fellow's Hall and quite a number of dwellings. Some of the people living there were: Levi Zaner, John Connrardy, Howard Green, Chas. Chapin, Nathaniel Hamlin, Adonijah Harris, Horatio P. Smith, Lehman Carley, Francis Shrauger, Robert Smart, Free Anders, DANIEL MILLER, John S. Wright, and others. By 1880, the town had declined and was vacated.
