issue dated Nov 19, 1954 – Mrs Adelaide Dillard Dies Saturday at Age of 91 Years

Mrs Adelaide Dillard, one of this section's oldest and most highly respected citizens, died Saturday afternoon, November 13 at the age of 91 at the home of her daughter, Mrs W. E. Russell at Creswell. As a result of a fracture of the hip, suffered several years ago, she has since been confined at home.

Mrs Dillard was born in Alabama on November 3, 1863. At the age of 3 her parents moved to Calico Rock community where she was to spend the remainder of her life. At the age of 21 she was married to W. O. Dillard on May 1, 1884. Six children were born. One son Charles and one daughter, Annie preceded her in death.

At an early age in life she united with the Christian Church and was a most active member. The many who knew her recall that she was not only a devout church leader but was interested in building a better community and a better world. Her influence was felt throughout this and adjoining communities.

Funeral was held at the Calico Rock Methodist Church on Sunday, November 14, at 2:00 p.m. The Burial was in Spring Creek Cemetery with Hall Funeral in charge.
