Mr. Marmaduke Grider, who lacked four days of being 92 years old, died at his home near Craycraft last Friday morning, following a brief illness. He was born August 2, 1840, and was one of the five remaining Civil War veterans living in this county. He served in the Federal Army with Captain John R. Curry in the 13th Kentucky Cavalry.

Mr. Grider was one of the best known older citizens of Adair county, having led not only a long but very useful life. He was born in Russell county, a son of William Grider. He moved to this county while a very young man, and has made his home here since that time, always being a valuable citizen. He belonged to the Methodist Church, and took an active interest in its affairs.

Mr. Grider was twice married, and was the father of nine children, six of whom survive. He leaves his wife, one brother, Fayette Grider, and the following children: Mrs. Almon Wolford, Miss Nannie Grider, Mrs. A.L. Black, Luther Grider, Crandell Grider, and Wood Grider. Two children, Josephine Grider and Mrs. Sallie Hurt, had passed away some time ago.

Funeral services were held at the home last Saturday morning at ten o'clock, conducted by Rev. V.V. Capps and Rev. H.J. Conover. Burial was in the Grider cemetery.
