Adah Martha Skofstad was born May 20, 1903, at Tyrol Township, Griggs County, the daughter of Brede and Anna Skofstad. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She received her education in a rural school and Cooperstown High School. She taught school in Griggs County for five years. On September 18, 1926, she married J. Walter Watne at Moorhead, Minn. They lived near Cooperstown until October of 1927, when they moved to Valley City.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and the ALCW of the church. She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Anna Marie (Mrs. Howard) Oppegard of Valley City; a brother, Gerhardt Skofstad of Green Acres, Wash.; a sister Ruth Lausch of Valley City; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters. Arrangements are by Oliver's Chapel. Published in the Valley City Times-Record, Valley City, North Dakota October 21, 1985.
