Roy Henry Buckwheat, age 82, Radisson, died Wednesday, June 29, 1994, at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Rice Lake.

Roy was born Nov. 16, 1911 at Winter, the son of Joseph and Maggie (Raynor) Buckwheat. He attended school in Winter, then worked in construction as a trucker for 15 years, during the time electricity was being brought to rural areas. Roy was an electrician and carpenter. In 1943 he worked for Superior Shipywards for one year and he also worked at Yellowstone National Park from 1972-1974 in electrical maintenance. He assisted the Radisson Volunteer Fire Department for 37 years where he served many years as Chief. Roy was married to Dorothy Koed at Park Falls on Sept. 18, 1938.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; four sons, Larry (Selma) of Green Bay, Robert (Melody) of Radisson, Kenneth (Rae Marie) of Ashland and Richard (Roxanne) of Rice Lake; one daughter Karen (Bill) Phillipi of Holcombe; 18 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother Duane of Eau Claire; one sister Luella McClellan of Spooner, and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson Robert; two brothers Percy and Don, and three sisters Hattie, Tess, and Bay.
