Rosina Habegger dies at hospital

Mrs. Rosina Habegger, 83, of Berne, widow of Jacob Habegger, died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday at the Adams county memorial hospital, where she had been a patient several days. She had been in ill health for several years.

She was a member of the First Mennonite Church.

Born in Monroe township on April 4, 1890, she was a daughter of David D. and Anna Steury-Schwartz, and was married on Aug. 7, 1910, to Jacob Habegger, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are six sons, Joel of Lancaster, Pa.; Lester of Seattle, Wash.; Cliffton of Fort Wayne; and Eli, Jess and David, all of Berne; four daughters, Mrs. Amos (Selma) Inniger of Berne; Mrs. Noah (Martha) Schrock of San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Reuben (Metta) Steury of Berne; and Mrs. Claude (Rose) Matthew of Camblesburg; four brothers, Joe D. Schwartz of Bluffton; Dan D. Schwartz of Berne; Peter D. Schwartz of Decatur, and J.D.R. Schwartz of Nappanee; 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Mennonite Church, with Rev. Kenneth Bauman officiating. Burial will be in the M.R.E. cemetery. Friends may call at the Yager funeral home after noon Friday and until 9 a.m. Saturday.

HABEGGER DIES AT ADAMS COUNTY HOSPITAL Mrs. Rosina Habegger, 83, a lifelong resident of this community died at 4:14 p.m. Wednesday at the Adams County Memorial hospital following an extended illness. She was the widow of Jacob H. Habegger who died March 1, 1969 [?] Mrs. Habegger became ill in August of 1973 and had not been well since. Death was attributed to complications and she had been very ill for a week or more before her death. She was cared for by Mrs. Ernestine Weaver in her private nursing home in Geneva before entering the hospital recently. She had been in the Adams County Memorialhospital for several weeks before returning to the Weaver residence where she had resided prior to going to the hospital the first time. Mrs. Habegger, before going to the Weaver home, had resided at 306 West Water street since 1971, and for several years had care of ailing and elderly people. She was born in Monroe township April 4, 1890, a daughter of David D. and Anna Steury Schwartz. She married Jacob H. Habegger August 7, 1910 and they lived on a farm three miles north of Berne and two miles east of U.S. 28 for many years before moving to East Water street where they resided when Mr. Habegger died. Surviving are six sons, Joel, Lancaster, Pa.; Lester, Seattle, Wash.; Clifton, Fort Wayne and Eli, David and Jesse, all of Berne; four daughters, Mrs. Amos (Selma) Inniger and Mrs. Reuben (Metta) Steury, both of Berne; Mrs. Noah (Martha) Schrock, San Diego, California and Mrs. Claude (Rose) Matthew, Campbellsburg, Indiana; 21 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Susan Liechty, Fort Wayne and Mrs. David J. (Martha) Graber, Fayetteville, Tenn. And our brothers, Joseph D. Schwartz, Bluffton, Dan D. Schwartz, Berne, Peter D. Schwartz, Decatur and J. D. R. Schwartz, Napanee. Three brothers Noah D., John D., and David D. Schwartz preceded in death. Mrs. Habegger was a member of the First Mennonite church where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev.
