(Estimated birth/death year. Her stone may be off by a year or so. Her year of birth according to census records (1830-31) and death is around 1872 shortly after the birth of her youngest child, Eliza Jane). Rachel is memorialized at Zion Cem., near her son Gabriel Edwards.

Rachel R. Roberts was born in Wayne Co. NC. She married William Edwards about 1846. They relocated to Horry, SC in the 1850's to start a turpentine business. Rachel's brother, Henry Roberts came to this area about the same time & also had a turpentine business near the present day Aynor, SC. Rachel & husband William relocated to Marion County (now that part of Marion Co. is in Florence County) after 1870 & had 2 more children. Rachel may have died while giving birth to her last child. I have no idea where Rachel might be buried, some think at Old Salem Cemetery in Florence County, SC but no marker has ever been found there.
