Son of David Milne & Ann Scott; husband of Mary Barclay, married at Guelph.

Farmed at lot 10, con. 5, West Garafraxa Twp.

Cause of death: general debility.

MILNE, James , was b. in Scot., and came to Canada in 1850. His wife was Mary Barkley, from Guelph Tp. He was one of the finest of the old settlers, and was a Magistrate up to his death, which occurred in 1898, on the homestead, now occupied by his son James. The pioneer's children were two sons, David and James, and two daughters, Mrs. James Richardson in Elora, and Mrs. George Smith of Galt. David, the oldest of the family, b. in Pilkington Tp., in 1854, owns 154 acres, lot 4, con. 10, West Garafraxa, and has recently given another 100 acres to his son Albert. His farm is equipped with a large and elegant brick house, fine grounds planted with spruce trees, and large bank barns, making it one of the attractive homes to be seen in the county of Wellington. He has been Justice of the Peace for a number of years, and is a Presbyterian, and a Liberal. In 1873, he m. Margaret Wilson, who d. at the age of 30, and in 1892, he m. Emma Gingrick. His family are: Mrs. Nelson Vrooman, set. Hespeler; Albert, m. Margaret Young, and set. on a part of the homestead; Jean, George, and Mary, at home.
