ESSEX JCT. - Eleanor R. Ross, 95, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2010 in the Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington.

She was born on Sept. 20, 1914 in Morrisvile, the daughter of Eldin and Sarah (Hadley) Hovey, she was one of 11 children.

Eleanor married Glenn B. Ross, he predeceased her on Feb. 13, 1972.

Eleanor was a longtime Essex resident, she enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking.

She is survived by her daughter, Sally Abernethy and her husband, Lee, of Hartland; three grand- children, Anne Bonneville and her husband, David, of Clairmont, N.H., Craig Abernethy and Maria of Wilmington, Mass., and David Abernethy and his wife, Julie, of Hartland; five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grand- children; her two sisters, Jean Abair of South Burlington, and Betty Bordeau of Fairfax; one brother, Donald Hovey of Greenland, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Donald Ross on Dec. 28, 2003; and her seven brothers and sisters.

Visiting hours will be on Friday July 16, 2010 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. with the service at 2 p.m. at the Corbin & Palmer Funeral Chapel, 9 Pleasant Street, Essex Jct., burial will follow in the family lot in Fairview Cemetery, Essex Jct.
