Philip Edward Hahn, 59, of Gordonsville, died on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

He was born on January 2, 1951, in Thurmont, Maryland, a son of the late Paul Vernon Hahn and Agnes May Six Hahn.

He was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served his country aboard the submarine Flying Fish USS 673 and was employed by Virginia Power for 35 years at the North Anna Nuclear Power Plant were he was the supervisor of the electrical department and was a project manager.

Mr. Hahn is survived by his wife, Susan Claire Hoke Hahn of Gordonsville; one daughter, Jessica Anne Hahn Babington and her husband, Dr. David Babington of Herndon; one son, Christopher Michael Hahn and his wife, Laura, of Richmond; two brothers, Paul Vernon Hahn Jr. and his wife, Jody, of Thurmont, Maryland, and Ted Eugene Hahn and his wife, Sandy, of Raliegh, North Carolina; and four grandchildren, Caroline Elizabeth Hahn, Katherine Anne Hahn, Julia Claire Babington and William Philip Babington.

The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Hess and staff of the hemotology and oncology departments at the University of Virginia Medical Center and Dr. Daniel Fowler and staff at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, for all of their loving care and kindness given to their loved one during his time of need.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Gordonsville with interment to follow at Maplewood Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends between 10 and 11 a.m., one hour prior to the funeral service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Orange County Rescue Squad, Box 466, Orange, VA 22960 or to the Gordonsville Volunteer Fire Company, Box 297, Gordonsville, VA 22942.
