The Monroe Watchman contains the following notice of the death of Mrs G W Perdue, mother of Mrs Hattie Clark, wife of Councilman James E Clark, of this city.

Mrs Perdue, wife of Mr G W Perdue, died at her home near Way Side, this county, at 6 o'clock on Tuesday evening last, Feb 16, after prolonged illness, of consumption. She was before her marriage Miss Powell of Franklin county, Va. Her age was 64 years and 28 days. Mr and Mrs Perdue moved with their family to Monroe county from Bramwell, Mercer county, some 13 years ago and have won the sincere esteem of our people. Mrs Perdue was a type of the true Christian woman, faithful in all her relations as wife, mother and friend and held in tender affection by those who knew her. For many years she was a member of the M E church, south. She is survived by her husband and four children, the latter being Messrs L S, of Holcomb, W Va; Mack, of Bramwell, and G S Perdue, of Fire Brick, Ky; and Mrs Hattie Clark, of Bluefield. All have come home except Mr G S Perdue, who is prevented by sickness. The interment will take place at Wayside today, Rev W F Lowance conducting the funeral services.
