Robert Davis Hartman Sr. born in Platte City, Mo. Nov.,26,1848 to Pioneer Jonathan & Christina Walking Hartman. The family moved to Port William, Ks. in 1854 to be in a free state. He lived the wild life of the plains,was a soldier while fighting Indians, became a bull-whacker freighter from Ks.to Colarado. He was also a cowboy & ranchman in Colorado.
He married Martha A. Williams in 1870.They lived at Hartman Corner at Parnell, Ks. Robert was an honorable man, devoted to his family,kind to all people & known as a man of his word.They lived on the farm at Hartman Corner, Parnell, Ks. the rest of their lives. Robert & Martha had 13 children of which 2 died in infancy.
Robert was educated at the White Clay Creek school house. Apoplexy caused Robert's death.
