John registered for the World War I draft on September 12, 1918, giving his occupation as farmer, and his next of kin as Grace Inez Nadeau. In 1930, Grace, age 41, and John, age 45, a farmer; were living in Hopping, Oklahoma (McClain County) with six children, all born in Oklahoma: Bernice, age 19; Nora, age 15; Virginia Dare, age 13; Jack, age 9; Ted, age 7; and Reb Fay, age 3 years 5 months.
Grace died June 1, 1938, and was buried in the Lexington Cemetery. John died on April 1, 1971, in Ventura, California (Ventura County) and was buried there in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park.
