Andrew Jackson "Jack" Anderson was born April 1, 1872, in Whitley County, Kentucky, son of William Anderson and Elizabeth Ryan.

Before 1892, Jack married a daughter of Sarah and Daniel Taylor of Jellico Creek, Kentucky, and they had a son, Milford, born January 1892. She presumably died as in about 1897, Jack married Sarah Baker, who was born March 31, 1876, in Kentucky, daughter of Elijah Baker and Melda Powers. Jack and Sarah had seven known children: Melda E., born April 24, 1898; Stella Ida, born April 13, 1901; Eligah Lawrence, born December 3, 1903; Flora Kathryn, born December 19, 1905; Maggie Ethel, born March 3, 1907; Dessie Lee, born August 10, 1909; and Ella Louise, born July 9, 1912.

Also living in the household was Jack's sister, Nancy, age 16, born April 1884 in Kentucky. At least three other Anderson households were living in the same block as this family, undoubtedly related. Jack's son Milford was living on a farm in Jellico Creek, Kentucky (Whitley County) with his grandparents, Daniel and Sarah Taylor, and two of their younger children, Virginia and James D. Taylor.

In 1910, the family was living in Jellico, Kentucky (Whitley County). Jack and Milford, Jack's son by his previous marriage, were working in the coal mines.
