She tried for over a year with no luck. She was told there was no one of that name who served. Some one told her to add the 'B' to Hamlin and send it in. This worked and she was given $16 a month. Records on file at NNCC Washington DC. This is why the name is spelled 'Hamblin in this branch of the family.
