Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, July 10, 2010, Mrs. Paula O'Dell Wheeler, 50, wife of Michael E. Wheeler.
Mrs. Wheeler was born in Greenville, SC and attended Greer High School. She graduated in 1978 from Spartanburg Regional Nursing School. Mrs. Wheeler was one of the original burn nurses of the Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, GA where she worked for 20 years. She went on to be a Medical Instrument Sales Representative for Huntleigh Health Care. Mrs. Wheeler was a very compassionate caregiver in Augusta for many years. She dedicated her life to the care of others through seminars and talks. Mrs. Wheeler was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter.
Family members in addition to her husband include two sons: Ben Wheeler (Raine) of Memphis, TN, Christopher Wheeler of Augusta, GA, daughter: Chris Lucas (Ricky) of Grovetown, GA, grandchildren: Somer Hayes and Noah Lucas, mother: Lucy Williams, sisters: Gina O'Dell (Gleneda), Kathy Bullock (Mike), Debbie Singleton (Jimmy), brother: Tommy O'Dell. Mrs. Wheeler was predeceased by her father: Charlie Williams and brother: Larry Williams.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Alex Hoffner officiating. Interment followed in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Bill Welsh, Greg Bowles, Todd Adams, Charles Gertler, Ron McNutt and Bob Sarafin. Honorary Pallbearers were the staff members ofJoseph M. Still Burn Center .
