Oldest child of Reuben Winfrey Lockett and Lottie L. South Lockett, who apparently met and married in Texas. All Census reports starting in 1900 show that Tempie was born in Colorado in 1888 but I think she was born in Cleburne, Johnson County, Texas. Reuben's father Capt. Solomon Thomas Lockett died on Oct 17, 1889 in Cleburne, Texas. I don't think Reuben would have left his father and moved away to Colorado. I think Reuben and Lottie stayed in Texas until spring or summer 1890, a few months after his father's death.

Several members of the Lockett family were named Reuben Winfrey Lockett originally from Pvt. Reuben Rogers, Reuben's great grandfather, a veteran and hero of the American Revolutionary War, and Reuben's great grandmother Sally Lucy Winfrey Lockett 1738-1787, from Virginia.

Her great grandfather Pvt. Tomas Lockett 1762-1844, a veteran of the American Revolutionary War, married Temperance "Tempy" Rogers 1780-1846, the daughter of Reuben Rogers mentioned above. Thomas was from Buckingham County, Virginia and Tempy from Warren County, Georgia. Both are buried in Warren County, Georgia.

Tempie was named after her great grandmother Temperance Rogers mentioned above.

Temperance married twice. She first married William Charles Rentz 1880-1906 in Colorado on April 19, 1906 but he died in 1906 shortly after they were married. They had one child, Lorena E. Rentz Akin, born on March 10, 1907 in Colorado, probably Montezuma County, born after her father had passed away. Lorena married Merwin Edward Akin on July 20, 1926 in Durango, Colorado and they had two children together. Lorena died on July 14, 1996 in Flagstaff, Coconino County, Arizona, USA.

Tempie then married Frank Wilkenson Pyle in 1916 and they had two sons.

Tempie is my 2nd cousin, 2 times removed. (Mike Lockett)
