Peter O. Vine was born in New York state to John Solomon Vine and Catharine (Shufeldt) Vine in 1844. He was one of eight children: Lucius; Mary; Peter; Chauncy; Jessey; Atta; Charles; and Kate. Peter's father was a farmer and by 1860 the family was living and farming in Marquette, Green Lake, Wisconsin. Peter married Correna (Unknown) Vine and had two sons, Vernon who was born in Marquette, Green Lake, WI, and Oakley Waldo Vine (1883-1912) who was born in Lincoln County, MN. The last record of Peter O. Vine is the 1930 census; he was a lodger in a home in Canby, MN and was 86 years old. His son Vernon lived nearby and owned a farm in Porter, MN.
