She was married to a man whose last name was Hall. It is not known where or when she married him. Since she was married at age 26 to Alonzo Brown Noyes in Micanopy Florida in 1841, I have assumed that her first husband might be James Hall of that town (1840 census) James had no children and cannot be found in Florida after that census. The only other Hall in Micanopy had a large family and is listed in the 1850 census. There are several James Hall's listed in the military papers of Florida in the early 1800's, some too young and some still around after 1841 so it has been so far impossible to determine her first husband's name.
Jane and Alonzo had five children who survived childhood: Ella, Emily, Alonzo Jr, Edward, and Charles. Augustus b 1842 died after 1850 but before 1855 and Thomas died also died young. Her children were born in different locations in Florida as the family moved from Micanopy to Newnansville, to Madison, to St. Marks to Newport and finally to Fernandina after the Civil war. Alonzo had come to Florida with his younger brother Augustus before 1845 when they are both listed on the 1st voting rolls for the new US State of Florida. Augustus disappeared from records after 1845.
While the family lived in Newport from about 1851 to 1868/9, Jane helped her husband in his business. According to some sources she cooked for a railroad hotel which was managed by Alonzo. She also maintained the household for her children and Alonzo's parents, Thomas (died 1861) and Mary Brown Noyes (blind, and died in 1871) who moved to Florida after 1855. Although Alonzo is listed as having 3 slaves in 1850, the 1860 census does not list him as owning slaves.
According to letters written to the family by friends she was well liked and welcomed everywhere.
She died in Fernandina in 1884.
