Emily Noyes was the daughter of Alonzo B and his wife Jane Cowan Noyes. She was shy and reserved and very religious. Several journals in her writing are owned by the family. They are filled with spiritual commentary, but it is not known whether she wrote these or if she copied them from other sources in order to keep them for perusal. After her family moved to Fernandina and her Mother's death in 1874 and her sister's (Ella) marriage in 1872, she kept house for her brother, Alonzo Jr. at the family home, 500 Center Street in Fernandina until her death in 1834 from complications of diabetes.
