Edgar "Buddy" E. Mowdy, age 77 of Rogersville, passed away, Friday, July 10, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. Born over A.P. Carter's Store in Maces Spring, VA., he was a childhood friend of June Carter Cash and her sisters. He was a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Mowdy was retired from Holston Defense after 35 years of service and Hawkins County Convenience Centers after 10 years of service. Mr. Mowdy was a member of the Naval Reserves. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Vincent and Nora Bessie Alvis Mowdy; brother, James Vincent Mowdy.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Callie Fain Mowdy of the home, three daughters, Jamie Shifflett and husband, Rick of Ashburn, VA, Terri Alvis and husband Dennis and Renee Price and husband, Brian all of Rogersville; one son, Tony Mowdy and wife, Becky of Corryton, TN; eight grandchildren, Daniel Alvis and wife, Amanda of Rogersville, Emily Elkins and husband, Ben of Rogersville, Jeremy V. Mowdy of Knoxville, Sarah Hall and husband, Rodney of Corryton, Megan Price of Morristown, Callie Blackwell of Knoxville, Jordan Price of Rogersville and Kelsie Price of Rogersville; three great grandchildren, Lorryn Alvis-Andies, of Rogersville, Ethan Hall and Ruthie Hall both of Corryton; two sisters, Ruth Williams of Gray and Lillian Horton of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, July 12, 2009 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jason Roach and Rev. Scott Price officiating. Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 13, 2009 at Highland Cemetery.
