Obituary: Clevelen(sic)Church, 78 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of the late Arie and Pinkie Ward Church. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Church was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a retired Coal Miner.

Mr. Church was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Church, February 5, 1996.

He was survived by one daughter: Kathy Lynn Osborne, Vansant, VA; one step-daughter: Ellen and husband Roy Howell,Patterson, VA; three sons: Lonnie Church, Grundy, VA; Don and wife Alisha Church, Rural Retreat, VA; Ronnie Lynn and wife Debbie Church, Big Rock, VA; three half sisters: Helen Spears, Raven, VA; Mae Fuller, Keen Mountain, VA; Beulah Ratiff, Rosedale, VA; one brother Bill Church, Rural Retreat, VA; three half brothers: Clyde Ratiff, North Carolina; Fred and wife Beulah Ratiff, North Carolina; Gene Ratiff, Keen Mountain, VA.

Also survived by six grandchildren and special granddaughter, Tina Sue Stanley, Vansant, VA; four great-grandchildren: Matthew David Hurd, James Leon Russell Osborne II, Kassidy Lynn Osborne and James Danyel Osborne, all of Vansant, VA.

Funeral services for Mr. Church will be conducted Monday, January 11, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Eddie Wilson and Josh Bowman officiating with burial to follow in the Antioch Cemetery, Keen Mountain, VA.

Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Saturday and Sunday evening at 6:00 pm with services Saturday and Sunday evenings at 7:00 pm.

Active pallbearers will be family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be R C Cole, Kenneth Ratiff, James Osborne, Elmer Osborne, Billy Thacker, Tina White Rene Childress, Special Care Hospice, 3rd and 4th Floor Nursing Staff of Buchanan General Hospital.

Full Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Childs Gentry Post #7360 of the Veterans of Foreign War, Grundy, VA.
