Mable Irene Reed Doyle, the daughter of James H. and Viola (Hubbard) Greenhalgh, was born February 22, 1901 on the farm in the Eckley Community in Webster County, Nebraska. She departed this life on Wednesday, November 1, 1995 at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 8 months and 10 days.

Mable received her formal education attending country schools, three years of high school at Cowles and graduated from the Guide Rock High School in 1917. She then taught in country schools for three years.

On May 18, 1920 she was united idn (sic) marriage with Buren Reed of Guide Rock, Nebraska. When they had no children of their own, they adopted a four year old girl and name (sic) her JoAnne. Mable and Buren resided on farms southeast of Guide Rock until 1960, when they moved into their new home in Guide Rock to retire. Buren preceded her in death on August 19, 1963 after a long illness.

On September 19, 1975 she was married to Harold Doyle and they resided in Guide Rock. Harold passed away on November 6, 1983.

Mable was converted as a young girl and joined the Eckley Methodist Church where her parents were faithful members. In later years she transferred her membership to the United Methodist Church in Guide Rock. She was a faithful worker in the Church, with the United Methodist Women and she also played the piano at church.

Mable loved growing flowers, reading good books and music, especially church hymns. She was a member of the Irene Chapter #207, Order of Eastern Star in Guide Rock for almost seventy years.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and neighbor, doing so many kindnesses for others. In 1986, due to failing health, Mable moved to the Good Samaritan Center to live.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a beloved granddaughter, Dixie Jo Reed on October 28, 1969, and a brother Charles Greenhalgh.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law JoAnne and Wayne Reed of Guide Rock, Nebraska; granddaughters Diane of Arlington, Virginia and her sons Justin and Jason; Mary Wohlers and husband Gary of Omaha, Nebraska and daughters Wendy Gerdes and family of Omaha, and Heather Peterson and family of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; other relatives and many friends.
