Alex J. Wasowski, 88, formerly of South Bend, passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, in Valley View Health Care Center, Elkhart, Ind.

Alex was born on July 17, 1917, in South Bend, to Jacob and Mary (Grzeskowski) Wasowski. His parents and brothers, Casimer, Leo and Nick, have all preceded him in death.

On Sept. 14, 1946, in South Bend, Alex married Loretta H. Cwiklinski. She survives along with daughters, Peggy (Dennis) Jarusewic of Granger and Joan (Gregory) Wittner of Mishawaka; sons, Larry (Mary Ellen) of Pineville, N.C., and Jerry (Tami) of Granger; grandchildren, Bridget Wasowski of Pineville, N.C., Bryan, Missy and Erin Jarusewic of Granger, Lindsay and Karly Wasowski of Granger, and Ryan (Brandy Thompson) Wittner of Mishawaka; and a sister, Dorothy Taylor of South Bend.

Alex was a steel fabricator at Industrial Metal Fab in South Bend before retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, and belonged to American Legion Post 357.
