Harold William Newyear, 95, of Harrison, died Tuesday, Dec. 6 (2011) at Hillcrest Home, Harrison.

The son of Frank Newyear and Selma Gosh Newyear was born April 21, 1916, at Harvard, Ill.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Hillcrest Home Chapel, Harrison, with Dr. David Artman officiating.

The son of Frank Newyear and Selma Gosh Newyear was born April 21, 1916, at Harvard, Ill.

He was a member of First Christian Church, Harrison. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1940 to 1945 in the Signal Corps, 3rd Signal Co. He retired from Illinois Bell in 1978. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and was a Mason, a Shriner and a VFW life member. He was a volunteer bingo caller at the local nursing homes; a member of Jake's Coffee Club; MOPH; Sanctuary volunteer; and a member of RSVP.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothy Newyear.

He is survived by sons, William Newyear, Karl Newyear and Daniel Newyear; a daughter, Eileen Moore, of Harrison; a sister, Marie Wold, of Franklin Park, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.
