28 Aug 1903 The door of earth closed and the portals of the celestial city swung open to Emerson, the youngest son of Milton and Belle Denton, Wednesday, August 19, 1903. He was born May 10,1886, in Jefferson township, being at the time of his death, 17 years, 3 months, 9 days of age. One year ago the thirteenth of last March he suffered an attack of appendictis since which time he was almost a constant sufferer, He was always kind and affectionate at home; at school he was cheerful and obedient and a favorite with teacher and pupils, and especially was he kind to the little children. During his last illness he sought and found the Savior and patiently waited and watched for His coming. Often during intense suffering he would shout praises to God. Almost his last words were, "Don't grieve for me, I am only waiting for Jesus to come." He leaves to mourn their loss a father, mother, one brother beside a host of relatives and friends, but our lose is his gain. Funeral services were held at Pleasant Plain conducted by Rev. Albert Smith, of Marion. Interment at Lancaster. - Thanks to Scott Sheat for this information!
