Born in Sweden in 1832 to Nels and Christina Youngquist, Olof arrived in the United States in 1854. He married Betsy Nelson on 1 May 1860 in Knox County, and was blessed with three children: Emma Christine, who died when 3 years old, Albert and John Arthur Youngquist.
Olof enlisted in the Army in Co. F, 112th Illinois Infantry between 1862 and 1865.
He became a naturalized citizen on 31 Aug 1868. He lived in Knoxville the entire time he was in the United States.
On 6 July 1887 he married Nellie Mary (Peterson) Goldquist in Galesburg, Knox Co, IL, P H Sanford, County Judge presiding. They were blessed with one daughter, Josephine.
The Lord called him home in 1902, and he's buried in the Knoxville Cemetery.
