James Knox Polk Craven passed away Thursday morning, 8 Oct. (1925) at one-thirty five after an illness of only a few hours. Mr. Craven was born near Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, 4 April 1847, coming to Michigan in 1852.
On 25, September 1868 he was united in marriage to Martha Secord, who passed away 7 Sept. 1925. In December 1873, they came to St. Charles to reside, living Northwest of town and in 1881 they moved onto the farm south of st. Charles.
He leaves eight children to mourn: Mrs. Rose Duncan, Detroit; Peter Craven, Marion Springs; Isaac E. Craven, W. Roxbury; Mrs. Ellen Petoskey, Miss Hattie, Andrew, Robert, and Arthur of St. Charles; also one sister, Mrs. Alice Rector and one Brother, Jake Craven of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, 17 grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren. the funeral services were conducted from the home Sunday afternooon, Rev. Cross officiating. Burial in st. Charles Cemetery.
