Betty Smith, 83 of Russellville, AR, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Stella Manor Nursing Center in Russellville, AR. The daughter of William and Mary Daisy Besser, she was born August 13, 1926 in Sand Springs, OK, one of 18 children. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Russellville. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Stanley H. Smith, a son, Stanley H. Smith Jr., a daughter Debra Ann Smith and a grandson, Eric Hlass.

Betty was kind, optimistic, a loving wife and mother, outgoing, a great cook and a wonderful dancer. She had a keen appreciation for the beauty of the Ozark Mountains and its streams. She enjoyed fishing and swimming and never let housework stand in the way of a good time. She considered her family to be the crowning jewel of her life.

She is survived by her son Steve and wife Becky Smith of Russellville; her 2 daughters, LaWanda and husband, Bob Hlass of Conway, AR and Lisa Pennington of Dardanelle, AR; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Tarlton Cemetery, in Lurton, AR. The Reverend Stanley Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 at the funeral home.
