VETERAN OF WORLD WAR IIOBITUARY OF BENNIE BESSER

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Services will be held Saturday, March 16, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mount Pleasant L.D.S. First Ward Chapel for Bennie BESSER, 68, who died March 11, 1985 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo of cancer.

He was born on September 14, 1916 in Keystone, Oklahoma. A son of William Tell and Mary Daisy Carter BESSER. He married Leona Melvina TERVORT on April 15, 1938 in Richfield. The marriage was solemnized in the Provo L.D.S. Temple on their 44th anniversary. He was an elder in the Mount Pleasant First Ward and had served as ward membership clerk.

He was employed for a furniture factory in San Francisco, California where he became a master upholsterer. He also worked for the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad as a carpenter. During World War II he worked in shipyards as a welder. He was employed at Geneva Steel in Provo. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, Local 348 for the past 30 years. He is veteran of World War II where he served in the U. S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Mount Pleasant; one son, Melvin B., Montrose, Colorado; daughter, Virginia K. THOMPSON, Bennion; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers, sisters, Carl, Ralph, Walter and Robert of California; Bill, Oregon; Sally REMSTEDT, Helen LOOP, and Anna COLOMBIA, all of California; Betty SMITH, of Arkansas and Edwina RIGGS of Texas. Two children, a grandson, a brother and four sisters preceded him in death.

Friends may call Ursenbach Funeral Home Friday from 7:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to Services.

Burial with military honors will be in the Mount Pleasant City Cemetery.
