James Bircher, Sr. was born October 6, 1916, to the late Charlie and Ruthie Bircher of Winona, Texas. He joined the Waters Bluff C.M.E. Church at an early age where he remained a faithful member until Saturday, December 20, 2003.
He was preceded in death by two sons; Charles and Joseph Bircher, his parents, four brothers and two sisters. James leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 62 years, Levonia Bircher, five sons; Walter(Jamie), James Jr., Leon, and Pondester, all of Winona, Texas and John (Joy) of Tyler, Texas; two daughters; Margie Phillips of Winona, Texas and Connie Rutherford (Ivey) of Hawkins, Texas, Twenty-four grandchildren, Thirty-two great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren,; one brother, Willie Bircher; one sister, Vernettia Grant and one aunt, Costella Zachary of Fort Worth, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
