FUNERAL SERVICES FOR A. H. JENKINS HELD WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 26.

Funeral services for Amos Houston Jenkins, who passed away in the Sheppard Hospital December 24th, were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday December 26th, in the Edgar Funeral Home. The Rev. Billy Newton officiated. Burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, with the Masonic Lodge in charge of the services.

The deceased was born in Freestone County, December 2, 1878, to John Oliver and Sarah Richardson Jinkins (different spelling), and came to Burnet County when a small boy. The family settled in what is now known as the Lake Victor community and he spent most of his youth and young manhood as a rancher and farmer there. He had been a resident of Burnet County some 70 years.

Om April 1, 1917, he married Miss Jewel Farquhar and to them were born two children; Byron and Floreine, all of whom survive him.

In October 1935, he moved his family to Burnet and opened the Jenkins Lumber Company in April 1936. He served as a member of the Burnet Independent School Board for many years, was appointed to the Burnet County Volunteer Parole Board when the system was set up by Governor James V. Allred and has been re-appointed to the same position by each succeeding governor. He was an active member of the Burnet Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years and served as a local board member in the Selective Service System for the duration of WWII.

Amos Jenkins had a long and colorful Masonic record covering some 46 years. He was Past Master of Lake Victor Lodge #1011, A.F.& A.M.; member of Valley Lodge #175, Burnet; Past District Deputy Grand Master of the 49th Masonic District; Past Grand Visitor, Grand Council R. & S.M.; Past High Priest of Burnet Chapter #453 R.A.M.; Past Thrice Illustrious Master, Burnet Council #368, R. & S.M.; member of Colorado Commandery #4, Knights Templar; member of Austin Consistory, Orient of Texas; Past Worthy Patron #425, O.E.S., Burnet; 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason; and member of the Ben Hur Shrine.

Besides his wife and children of Burnet, he is survived by two sisters; Mrs. W.H. McCoy of Burnet and Mrs. W.O. McCoy of Richland Springs; a brother, R. O. Jenkins of Sudan; and three grandchildren, Larry and Dan Jenkins, and Cheryl Petrick.
