James D. Echeveria, 67, a beverage salesman and lifelong resident of Salinas, died on Sunday at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Echeveria was born in Gonzales on July 21, 1926. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He worked as a general manager at Cal's Liquors for many years and was a sales a manager at Affiliated Beverage in Salinas for seven years until he retired.
Mr. Echeveria was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a former member of the Elks Lodge in Salinas.
He is survived by his wife, Camille; four sons, James Jr. and Matthew, both of Sacramento, and Michael and Paul, both of Salinas; six daughters, Marilyn Rhoden of Roseville, Nancy McDonald, Jane and Jennifer Echeveria and Sally Hayes, all of Salinas, Jane Smiley of Sacramento; three sisters, Geri Kalstrom of Salinas, Eve Morgan of Hollister and Anne Chytil of Los Angeles; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the Whitehurst/Muller Funeral Service. The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the mortuary. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Gonzales District Cemetery."

"James D. Echeveria of Salinas died Sunday at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. The cause of death was unknown. He was 68.
Mr. Echeveria was a native of Gonzales. He lived in Salinas for 68 years. He was a general manager at Cal's Liquor. He was also a sales manager for Affiliated Beverage in Salinas for over 12 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Benevolent and Protected Order of Elks. He served in the Army from 1944 to 1946.
Mr. Echeveria is survived by his sons, James D. Echeveria Jr. and Matthew Echeveria, both of Sacramento, Michael Echeveria and Paul Echeveria, both of Salinas; his daughters, Marilyn Rhoden of Roseville, Nancy MacDonald, Jane Echeveria, Sally Hayes and Jennifer Echeveria, all of Salinas and Julie Smiley of Sacramento; his sisters, Geri Kalstrom of Salinas, Eve Morgan of Hollister and Anne Chytil of Los Angeles; and six grandchildren. He also leaves the mother of their children, Camille Echeveria.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. toady at Whitehurst Muller Funeral Service. Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. toady at the chapel. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Gonzales cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund for the family at the Bank of Salinas."
