RITES SUNDAY FOR MISS GRACE BENTON
A funeral service for Miss Grace Benton, 78, a Jackson township native, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Gilliland-Howe funeral home. Her death occurred in the Franklin Masonic home at 10:30 a.m. Thursday after a long illness.
Miss Benton, daughter of George C. and Cynthia Tomson Benton, was born on the Benton farm north of Sardinia Sept. 28, 1880. Most of her life was spent in Jackson township. She was a member of the Westport Methodist church and the Order of Eastern Star at Alert.
Near surviving relatives are one brother, Thomas E. Benton, of Shelbyville and a niece, Mrs. C.R. (Eleanor) Headlee, of Milwaukee, Wisc. A brother, Frank Benton, preceded her in death.
The Alert O.E.S. will conduct a ritual service at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Rev. H.R. Page, pastor of the First Methodist church in Shelbyville, will officiate at the funeral service. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Union cemetery south of Forest Hill.
Friends may call at the funeral home after the noon hour Saturday.
